DARK HISTORY TOUR #2: DEAD FRENCHMEN

dark history tour

Take a journey into the dark history of an often unexplored area of the old city. Hear tales of the bones of the dead, explore the mystery of tunnels connecting to our dark past and walk the two most dangerous waterfront blocks in the world in the 1850’s! Learn the origins of Frenchmen street and of the sacred energy that lured a satanic priest across the globe to perform rites in a property that still requires rituals to keep the disquieted spirits at bay! All of this and more awaits you on our Dark History Tour #2: Dead Frenchmen!

We begin our dark history tour at Santos Bar, where you’ll hear about a shocking discovery that was made nearby in the 1960s… Our tour will then take you to Latrobe Park, the Marigny, the Dragon’s Den, the haunted Lafitte Guest House and more. From playboy millionaires and the horrors of the slave trade to smuggling and spirits trapped after murders, our Dark History #2: Dead Frenchmen Tour will show you the horrors and history that have made New Orleans the captivating city it is today.

Our Dead Frenchmen Tour explores a different side of the city and does not overlap with our original Dark History Tour; the two tours are companions and will give you a new appreciation for New Orleans and the people who walked these streets before us!!

Dark History

Each and every Jonathan Weiss tour strives to entertain, educate and leave you wanting more of New Orleans and her French Quarter. Our Dark History: Dead Frenchmen Tour begins in the French Quarter and our guides will navigate the streets while telling you the stories that make our city great. We will stand in the exact spots where history happened while we discuss the dark tales of New Orleans. You will be intrigued, thrilled and maybe even uncomfortable with some of the chronicles of the Crescent City.

Our guides’ passion and collective knowledge of the city brings an expertise to each of our tours; we encourage you to ask questions and become as excited about New Orleans history as we are! We are first and foremost historians of this great city and are proud to tell you about her saints, sinners, triumphs and travesties.

New Orleans is an open container city, meaning you can bring your drinks along for the entirety of the Dark History: Dead Frenchmen Tour! We suggest you bring a camera and snap photos along the way–you never know who or what might make an appearance! Don’t forget to bring plenty of curiosity, an open mind and comfortable shoes! We can’t wait to share our love of The Big Easy with you! See you in the Quarter for your Dark History #2: Dead Frenchmen Tour…
